We'll use the AGOPP method of research to guide our process.

Ask Questions
  • Identify questions
  • Determine where you can locate possible answers to our questions

Gather Information
  • Search for information using a variety of resources (print, video, podcasts, apps, websites)
  • Record relevant information (correct spelling!)
  • Cite where you gathered the information from

Organize Information
  • Determine which research questions you've answered
  • Determine which questions remain...can you locate additional information somewhere else?

Prepare and Produce
  • Create two presentations: travel brochure and a Keynote presentation
The travel brochure will include the following content:
    • Location of your volcano on a map
    • Identify some interesting facts you learned about your volcano (history, dangers, etc)
    • Determine which type of volcano yours is (shield, cinder cone, or composite)
    • List some ways that tourists could travel to your volcano (transportation type)
    • Describe your favorite thing you learned about your volcano
The Keynote presentation will include the following content:
    • an illustration, photo, and description of the 3 main types of volcanoes
    • a labeled diagram, caption, and definition to explain the three main types of plate tectonic boundaries
    • construct a world map using plate tectonics information and label 6 different volcano
    • conduct vocabulary work and label a cross-section of a volcano that describes how eruptions occur
    • create a video lesson that demonstrates an eruption (using a student-created model and experiment)
  • Apply feedback from peer and teacher conferences = Final draft

Present
  • Rehearse your presentation
  • Present to your audience
